Taiwan reports 17th human case of Japanese encephalitis on 4/11/14

The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (Taiwan CDC) disclosed today that there is one new confirmed case of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in an 80-year-old female who stays in southern Taiwan.

Epidemiological investigation revealed that the case had not traveled overseas recently, neither was there any rice paddy fields or pig farms around the case’s residence. There were no suspected symptoms observed in the family members who lived in the same household with the case.
